Ballerina Tatyana Legat, who danced at the Mariinsky Theater for 32 years, has died

Famous Soviet ballerina Tatyana Legat died on January 27 at the age of 88, reports the press service of the Mikhailovsky Theater.

Tatyana Nikolaevna Legat was born on April 8, 1934 in Leningrad. She is the great-granddaughter of the famous Russian dancer and choreographer Gustav Legat (1837-1895), founder of the dynasty of ballet dancers. Kirov (today – Mariinsky Theater). She then worked for about 10 years as a teacher-rehearsalist at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater in Moscow, after which she went abroad for almost 20 years, where she worked in American ballet schools and English. In 2009, Legat got a job at the Mikhailovsky Theater. 

“A tutor and teacher, in our theater she not only worked with the ballet corps, achieving purity of lines, positions correct and clear choreographic articulation, but also worked with soloists”;, — The theater said in a statement.

Earlier it became known about the death of the Soviet poet Yuri Poroikov, who wrote songs for Dolina and Boyarsky.
