Protodeacon Andrei Kuraev, banned from service, has been hospitalized in Moscow with COVID-19. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

Protodeacon Andrei Kuraev is known for his criticism of the church. In December 2020, the diocesan court in Moscow decided to strip him of his rank, the religious figure admitting in his statements “signs of blasphemy against the Church”; and insults from the former rector of the Epiphany Cathedral Moscow Archpriest Alexander Ageikin, who died of coronavirus.
