Defense Ministry sent additional forces to put out fires in Yakutia

The RF Ministry of Defense has sent a consolidated engineering company and special equipment to help extinguish forest fires in Yakutia. The corresponding instruction was given by the head of the department, Sergei Choïgou, reports RIA Novosti.

Thus, 109 additional soldiers were sent to the region from the military district of the L & # 39; Est, as well as 16 pieces of equipment.

On the eve of the 90,000 hectare increase in the total area of ​​forest fires in Russia, the largest area of ​​fires is now observed in Yakutia & mdash; 669 thousand hectares and in the Irkutsk region & mdash; 107 thousand hectares.

The leader of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev, has called global climate change the main cause of large-scale forest fires in the republic, according to him, every year, summer in the republic becomes hotter and drier.

It is worth noting that in the past 24 hours the country has successfully eliminated up to 40 forest fires, while 222 natural fires continue to operate over an area of ​​1,071 845 hectares.
