Putin signed a law on free access to socially significant sites

The head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, signed a law on free access to socially important sites in the country. The document was posted on July 2 on the official legal information portal.

According to the new regulations, access to resources included in the list of national sites of social importance is provided free of charge to subscribers.

The list of such resources will include the websites of government agencies and local governments, non-budgetary funds of the state of the Russian Federation, as well as a portal of public services . A complete list of sites & nbsp; will be determined by a special government commission.

In addition, according to law, only Russian legal persons can own or own cross-border lines of communication. Spoofed Russian numbers used from abroad will be blocked.

The bill on free access to socially significant sites was submitted to the State Duma at the end of last year. It was noted that the changes aim to support socially unprotected segments of the population in the face of reduced income of citizens due to the pandemic.

Recall that the Ministry of Digital Sciences conducted the “ Accessible Internet '' experiment for about a year. The largest operators in the Russian Federation provide access to nearly 400 sites even though their customers have zero balances.
