History Protests in Kazakhstan in the face of rising gas prices
The commander of the collective peacekeeping forces Colonel General of the Russian Army Andrei Serdyukov announced the completion of the deployment on the territory of Kazakhstan, writes RIA Novosti.
According to him, the units are now guarded by important military, state and social installations in Alma-Ata and adjacent regions.
Serdyukov said this during a joint briefing with the deputy head of the Kazakh Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Sultan Gamaletdinov.
He also expressed his gratitude to the authorities of the country for the swift resolution of the organizational problems and promised that the units will carry out tasks until the situation in the republic is completely stabilized.
The Kazakhstan Defense Ministry, in turn, said OTSC forces enabled Kazakh security forces to fight terrorism.
In particular, according to Gamaletdinov, the seizure of important facilities by peacekeepers has helped the country free up a significant portion of its forces to fight terrorism.
Previously, the Kremlin had confirmed the participation of Vladimir Putin in the video conference of the leaders of the OTSC countries. The organization's Collective Security Council session is scheduled for January 10.
It was also reported today that Russian peacekeepers are conducting training in Kazakhstan. They take place at the Almaty airfield.
