Kazakhstani law enforcement agencies arrested 852 rioters in Alma-Ata, including those who attacked the police on the night of January 6. The official representative of the Almaty city siege, Saltanat Ozirbek, said this on the Khabar-24 TV channel.

She also said that 18 firearms and nearly 1,400 ammunition have been withdrawn from illegal circulation.

The speaker noted that the storming of the police building was planned by the rioters. The attackers, according to Ozirbek, had special training and equipment, which is confirmed by the video made available to the investigating authorities.

In addition, the representative of the operational headquarters of the city ​​said law enforcement agencies had emptied several neighborhoods in Almaty of rioters and, in particular, the presidential residence, municipal administration, Republic Square, microdistrict of Duman, the residential area adjacent to the Carcity trading house, the Auezovsky and Nauryzbaysky districts.

Earlier it was reported that the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev on January 11 will proceed personnel changes. Among other things, the name of the new head of government of the republic will be known.

It also became known that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken condemned Tokayev's shoot to kill order. Earlier, the US politician said Kazakhstan could deal with the protests independently without the help of the OTSC.
