A tornado hit the southeast of the Czech Republic on June 24. Rescuers declared a third degree emergency in the Breclav and Hodonin regions.
The wind, which reached 322 km/h, destroyed seven villages and the town of Hodonin near the border with L & Austria and Slovakia. The roofs tore the houses of the village, the wind knocked over the cars and uprooted the trees. Hail of up to 10 centimeters fell on the buildings.
After the tornado, up to 150 injuries were recorded, at least 5 people died, around 1,000 houses were destroyed. thousands more homes were left without gas and around 78,000 households in the Czech Republic were left without electricity. Public transport is paralyzed. The disruptions in transport mainly affected buses, as well as the Brzeclav-Hodonin railway line. Rescue workers provide emergency aid to victims and search for people under the rubble. The army, along with Austrian and Slovakian rescuers, came to the aid of the Czech rescuers to eliminate the consequences of the disaster.
