The Home Office, together with other law enforcement agencies, has drafted a bill proposing to collect workers' fingerprints migrants arriving in Russia. The document is published on the Federal Portal for Draft Regulatory Legal Acts.

It is clarified that there are currently exceptions for highly qualified specialists and employees of foreign companies, but they are absent in the proposed version of the bill.

The authors' documents also suggest collecting information on the fingerprints of those who receive Russian citizenship and those who arrive in the country for a period of more than 90 days.

Yesterday, the head of the investigation committee, Alexander Bastrykin, proposed an initiative to introduce compulsory genomic recording for those coming to work from countries of the former USSR. AiF.ru explained what this measure is and why it is necessary.

Before that, the publication wrote about how the wives of migrant workers working in Russia live in Tajikistan. There are now around 1.5 million Tajik migrant workers in the country, most of whom only visit their families once a year.
