Alexei Novoseltsev, former deputy head of the Main Directorate for Combating Economic Crimes of the Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation, was arrested in the town of Korolev, in the Moscow region on suspicion of murder. This was reported by the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry Irina Volk.
Novoseltsev was found murdered in New Moscow in the settlement of Desenovskoye.
According to the representative of the State Investigation Committee of the Moscow Investigation Committee, Yulia Ivanova, the detainee said that he committed the murder because of monetary debt. According to his information, the accused owed more than six million rubles and could not return them to the family of the deceased.
The investigation will call for the arrest of the suspect.
In 2002, police colonel Alexei Novoseltsev headed the task force, which investigated the economic motives for the murder of the governor of the Magadan region, Valentin Tsvetkov. The killers were later found and brought to justice.
Previously, it was reported that the police had completed an investigation into the ticket mafia case. Investigator Evgenia Shishkina, who headed it, was killed in 2018.
It was also learned that a murder accused wanted for 20 years was being held in the district Autonomous Region of Khanty-Mansi.
