Charitable foundations have called on Putin to change the law on foreign agents

The leaders of charitable foundations sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request not to extend the law on foreign agents to them. This is reported by the Takie Delo portal.

The appeal indicates that the activities of charitable foundations cannot be considered political. In addition, the work of these NGOs is monitored by the Ministry of Justice. In this regard, the signatories request to amend paragraph 7 of art. 1 of the Federal Law “On Non-Profit Organizations” and state it as follows:

“Clause 6 of Article 2 of this Law federal does not apply to associations of employers, chambers of commerce and industry, registered charities in the manner prescribed by law. ”

Also, the fund managers propose to give the right to NPOs registered in the register of foreign agents to opt out if the changes in the law are approved.

Currently 40 people have signed the letter.
