Phone crooks have found a way to instill confidence in potential victims by using bots and the dial tone mode, writes RIA Novosti, citing experts.
The agency has verified the information that the attackers under the pretext polls offer the caller to press a certain key on their phone in tone mode, if the answer is positive, after which the caller will press a certain key on their phone. Device can supposedly be blocked, and the fraudster will access it, hack it and steal funds, since a bank the card is tied to the smartphone.
According to experts, this is impossible, because pressing any key in tone mode does not block the phone and, moreover, does not steal money. For example, Kaspersky Lab cybersecurity expert Dmitry Galov explained that in order to deactivate a smartphone, it must either be infected with malware or use a particular vulnerability, and pressing a key in tone mode cannot lead to this.
At the same time, Galov confirmed that the crooks use the keyboard trick to transfer the call to a live person when a button is pressed. “ A robot calls a person and says their number would have been changed, if the person didn't they would be asked to press a key and then it was connected directly to the scammer '' ;, & ndash; said the specialist.
Experts recommend against sharing your account or card information with strangers & ndash; you should end the conversation and call the bank yourself.
