On September 8, at the age of 55, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Yevgeny Zinichev, was tragically killed. The head of the department tried to save director Alexander Melnik, who fell into the water from a cliff while filming a documentary in Norilsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory.
As a result, both died, Zinichev hit a stone, receiving a fatal wound. President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishoustin have expressed their condolences on the death of the Minister. In addition, the Russian leader sent a telegram to the minister's widow and son. Zinichev was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia.
The farewell ceremony for the head of the Emergency Ministry will take place in Moscow on Friday, and the funeral will presumably take place on the same day at the Serafimovskoye cemetery in St. Petersburg. Putin plans to personally say goodbye to Yevgeny Zinichev.
