The Moscow court upheld a turnover fine of 2 billion rubles against Meta

The Tagansky District Court of Moscow upheld the magistrate's decision on the fine for the turnover of Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook) in the amount of almost of 2 billion rubles, reports the press service of the court.< /p>

« By decision of the Tagansky court of February 15, 2022, the decision of the justice of the peace of the judicial district No. 422 of the Tagansky district in Moscow of December 27, 2021, < …> which imposed an administrative fine on Meta Platforms Inc  in the amount of 1,990,984,950 rubles 05 kopeks, – says the message.

The court added that the complaints of two defenders of the company – Volodin O.I. and Bekeschenko EA – were left without satisfaction.

Recall that at the end of last year, Meta Platforms was found guilty of repeated failure to remove prohibited information (part 5 of article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation) and imposed a fine for turnover.

Previously, the district court of Tagansky in Moscow had fined Google more than 7.2 billion rubles for regularly failing to remove destructive and illegal content.

The Russian court calculated that the annual income of foreign companies Google and Meta in Russia is 144.4 billion and 39.8 billion rubles. The court came to the conclusion that it was necessary to impose a fine on the companies corresponding to 1/20 of their total income.
