Pensions for working retirees are not indexed, but there is a way to keep a job and get indexed. About this agency «Prime» said Associate Professor of PFUR Faculty of Economics Andrey Girinsky.
How can working pensioners increase their pensions?
The pension is only indexed for non-working pensioners. Girinsky recalled that the old-age pension consists of two parts: insurance and capitalization. The first is divided into a fixed part (guaranteed by the state) and insurance, depending on the pension points acquired during work.
“The fixed part of the pension is not indexed from 2016 and amounts to 6044 rubles 48 kopecks”, — the expert explained.
That is, pensioners who actually work receive only a fixed part of the pension — a little over 6000 rubles. According to Girinsky, it can be increased. “If a pensioner is working, then the pension is not indexed, but after retirement the pensioner receives indexation. Of course, there is (theoretically) a way to get indexed as you go. For this, you can resign and, after receiving indexation, get back to work, — suggested by an expert.
However, later, according to Girinsky, it will be difficult for pensioners to find a job, because Russian employers are in no hurry to hire people of retirement age. “One of the main obstacles — it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, for a pensioner to get a job, but to get a job officially and even with a large salary — unbelievable luck”, — summarizes Girinsky.
Can indexation stop after re-employment?
No. According to the Pension Fund of Russia, the amount of the pension will not decrease if the pensioner returns to work after a certain period of time.
“If the pensioner subsequently finds employment, the amount of his pension insurance will not be reduced. The pension will be paid in the amount that was calculated on the day before the day of resumption of work, — explained to Rossiyskaya Gazeta in the FIU.
