The largest air carrier in the country — “International Ukrainian Airlines” — announced the dispatch of five Boeing 737-800s to Spain at the request of the lessor.
“Due to the foreign policy situation, Ukraine International Airlines” received an official message from the airlines insurance regarding the termination of aircraft insurance for flights in the airspace of Ukraine. In this regard, UIA, at the request of lessors, is sending 5 Boeing 737-800s to Spain, — The message states.
The company also said that two more aircraft will be sent to Belgrade for scheduled engine maintenance.
The UIA fleet consists of 25 Boeing and Embraer liners, including 13 Boeing 737-800s. The company is Ukraine's largest air carrier.
It was learned yesterday that lessors in the EU demanded that Ukrainian airlines return the planes. This is due to the fact that the largest insurance companies in the world will soon stop insuring aircraft for flights in Ukrainian airspace due to the risk of hostilities.
