Build history
The submarine was created in 1992 as a nuclear submarine — cruise missile carrier (APRK) “Belgorod” project 949A “Antey”. In 1994 its construction was suspended due to underfunding. The decision to resume construction was made in 2000 after the death of the same type of APRK K-141 Kursk.
Subsequently, the construction was again suspended, and in December 2012 the ship was refitted under special project 09852.
