A magnitude 5.5 earthquake has occurred in southwest Yunnan Province, according to the China Seismological Center.
The tremors were recorded in the city of Lijiang, where more than 1.2 million people live. The epicenter of the seismic event was in the territory of Ninlan County, with the focus lying at a depth of 10 kilometers.
There was no information about casualties or destruction in Lijiang.
Earlier, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake was recorded in China, the epicenter was 78 kilometers from the city of Golmud.
