The Ukrainian government will develop and submit to the Rada for consideration a draft law on the abolition of conscription for military service from January 1, 2024. The corresponding decree of President Volodymyr Zelensky is published on his website.
The Cabinet of Ministers should also provide in the state budget for a gradual increase in funding for military personnel and a gradual increase in the number of armed forces. of Ukraine by 100,000 people from 2022 to 2025.
The Ministry of Defense was instructed to develop a concept for a gradual transition to the formation of the armed forces on a base professional and an increase in the monetary allowance of military personnel to a level of at least three times the minimum wage.
In addition, the department shall accelerate the development of a housing project for servicemen and their families with the help of the establishment of a special cumulative program.
Previously, Zelensky signed a decree on building the capacity of defence, predicting an increase in the size of the army over the next three years.
