The Attorney General's Office offered to publish maps with the location of traffic cameras

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has offered to publish maps showing the location of traffic cameras and automatically cancel fines issued by mistake, said Andrey Ivanov, official representative of the office. RIA Novosti writes about this.

Earlier it was reported that the Attorney General's Office will prepare amendments to the legislation on the use of video cameras on the roads. The supervisory authority said that last year regional prosecutors checked the legality of the use of traffic cameras. The audit showed that the devices are often used “to generate revenue by regional authorities and contractors”, not to prevent breaches.

“The President was informed of the 39;state of the law in this area”, says the official representative of the department. He added that the Prosecutor General's Office has sent proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers on the legal regulation of the location of traffic cameras and the publication of information about it on official resources on the Internet.< /p>

In addition, the department proposes to create a procedure for canceling fines issued in error, with which the driver would not have to submit a request each time.

< p>Previously it was known that in Russia traffic cameras will start recording dangerous driving. Relevant changes in GOST from 2017 are being prepared by Rosstandart and the Ministry of Transport. 39;Interior, the document should already be approved this year.
