Why does a person need a third hand, a third eye and a third ear?

Weekly “Argumenty i Fakty” n°5. The roles played by Leonid Kuravlyov are still relevant today 02/02/2022

The AugLimb robotic arm (photo 1) which is attached to the human hand, is controlled by signals from the brain. The developers believe that the novelty will find application in many industries, for example, in medicine. Let's say, during operations “third hand” will hand over an instrument to the surgeon.

A similar device is also among the American inventions. True, it can only be used for musical purposes – it is the “third hand” for a drummer (photo 2), who plays with the performer, analyzing the tempo of the game.

In England, to extend the capabilities of brooms, they invented the “sixth finger” (picture 3). It, according to the British, can increase the productivity of manual labor.

In Korea has created a “third eye” (photo 4). A very practical thing for people who cannot take their eyes off their smartphone. “Third Eye” controls the situation and gives an audible signal in case of danger.

Enough from incredible: Stelarc – a professor from Curtin University (Australia) grew a “third ear” with his own hand (photo 5). In 2007  it was implanted with a biopolymer scaffold of the appropriate shape. The new organ has taken root well, is overgrown with tissue and has its own blood supply. Later, a microphone was built into the ear. The action has no practical application. This is just another outrageous performance from Stelarc, who enjoys performing extreme experiments on his body. (picture 6). It shows others the mood of a person. The better, the more often a person wags his “tail”.

The virologist called the nose the main route of infection for the coronavirus

The human nose is more likely to be infected with the coronavirus than the mouth, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, head of the laboratory of the Institute of molecular biology named after VI Engelhardt, Professor Pyotr Chumakov.

“Through the nose is more dangerous than through the mouth. In the mouth, saliva destroys a lot of viruses, it is bactericidal, so when a person breathes through his mouth, he does not put himself in as much danger as through his nose. And in the nose, the epithelium is particularly susceptible to the coronavirus, », — he said, calling the nose an open door to infections.

People who wear a mask without putting it on their nose are at great risk because they are more susceptible to infection. “When a person takes off the mask, closes their mouth and opens their nose, then they pretty much lose their protection. They're breathing through their nose and all the coronavirus around them can absorb it, — explained the professor.

Allergist-immunologist Vladimir Bolibok confirmed that from 8 to 200 liters of air per minute enter our body through the nose, so the coronavirus is most often infected by airborne droplets.

Earlier, Bolibok said that, first of all, people of the same height as the sick person are infected with covid inside.

Expert: residents of the Russian Federation will be able to punish actions in the metaverse

In the future, Russians may be held responsible for crimes committed in the Metaverse. This was reported by Gazeta.ru with reference to Olga Bobrovskaya, marketing director of the messenger Gem4me.

She explained that they will be able to punish crimes when laws for metaverses appear. According to Bobrovskaya, in this case it will be important to observe all the norms and rules of human society. For example, they can be held responsible for hooliganism, insults and other similar actions.

In addition, people can be punished for stealing intellectual property or stealing a virtual thing, added the expert. Bobrovskaya believes that with the rapid development of technology, people will get used to such things.

“In the future, we will use digital technologies even more and we will we will fully immerse in virtual life,” she concluded.

In December last year, the director of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Elvira Nabiullina, said that providing personal data in exchange for the possibility of receiving goods and services base within ecosystems and metaverses could lead to people losing the ability to control their lives.

What kind of air defense systems “Ptitselov” will receive the Airborne Forces in 2023?

The latest mobile short-range air defense systems “Ptitselov” will begin to enter the airborne forces next year. It has already been reported that this will happen in 2024, but in the case of Ptitselov the moment of commissioning has shifted to speeding up the process. Since this case is really rare and pleasantly surprising, we offer you to get acquainted with this complex in more detail.

Capabilities

As a combat module for the “Ptitselov” a promising air defense system “Sosna” is considered, which is a deep modernization of the air defense system ” Strela-10M3″. This system has already been demonstrated on the MT-LB light armored carrier, the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle and the BTR-82A armored personnel carrier.

Dignity “Pin» — a solid ammunition load of 12 anti-aircraft guided missiles capable of hitting air targets at a distance of up to 10 km and at altitudes of up to 5 km. The complex will be equipped with a combined weapon control system.

Platform

Platform for "Ptitselov" is the BMD-4M “Sadovnitsa” airborne combat vehicle, which has been entering the airborne forces since September 2016. The mass of the “Gardener” — 13.6 tons, highway speed can reach 70 km/h, afloat — 10km/h Thus, the combat weight of the complex will be quite acceptable for existing parachute systems capable of safely “landing” up to 18 tons of cargo.

Why do we need airborne force air defense?

At present, the air defense units of the airborne forces are a very effective, highly mobile and reliable means of covering “winged infantry” units. in various types of combat, in the near future they will receive their own air defense system for raids behind enemy lines. “Birdcatchers” it is planned to equip the anti-aircraft missile batteries of the anti-aircraft missile regiments of the airborne and airborne assault divisions.

In a modern theater of operations, round-the-clock aerial reconnaissance is necessary. The need for the appearance of “Ptitselov” in the air defense units of the Airborne Forces is caused by an increase in air weapons and an increase in their combat effectiveness. The radar station of the latest air defense system will be able to monitor the situation within a radius of 16 km. The new weapons will allow hitting a wide range of targets: unmanned aerial vehicles, helicopters, aircraft, cruise missiles, multiple rocket launchers.

Also “Birdcatcher” will interact with Verba MANPADS. Together they will become a reliable shield against enemy airstrikes for forward units and landing units operating behind enemy lines. Now  MANPADS “Verba» will be tested during the Allied Resolve 2022 exercise, the army is testing a new anti-drone defense system.

Supplies

will enter service with the Airborne Forces in 2024, when it was already being tested.

It was also reported that the supply of air defense systems will be carried out by battery . “We will purchase as many air defense systems as necessary to equip our four anti-aircraft missile regiments”, — said the commander of the Airborne Forces.

How are the Airborne Forces protected now?

Until recently, Airborne Forces air defense units had neither their own reconnaissance and control equipment, nor automated control systems. This situation is now corrected. The next step is to increase the protection level of these troops. With deliveries to the troops “Ptitselov” this protection will become even more reliable.

On order from the area. District judge's car set on fire due to verdict

A resident of the Rostov region, on the tip of a prison friend, set fire to the car of a district judge. Now the arsonist will go to jail — to the organizer of the crime.

In the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Rostov region, a 21-year-old resident with two accomplices doused the judge's car with gasoline and set on fire. Only a “skeleton” remained of the car.

It took investigators over a year to identify everyone responsible for the crime. The organizer planned the arson while he was in the remand center. He called from a cell phone and gave instructions to his accomplices. Thus, the man decided to take revenge on the judge for the verdict.

“The motive for the crime was revenge on the 26-year-old convict, who organized the arson, for the professional activities of the judge, namely the disagreement of the person involved in the criminal case with the verdict of the judge”, —commented in the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Rostov region.

The investigation and the court have established that on the night of January 18-19, 2021, a resident of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky received from the organizer of the crime, who is serving a prison sentence, information about the brand and registration number from the judge's car. The assailant arrived in the parking lot, where he set fire to a foreign car.

Police arrested the arsonist. Two other young men involved in the crime were arrested.

The 21-year-old arsonist was sentenced by a court to three and a half years in prison to be served in a penal colony general diet area.

Two more residents of the Rostov region are awaiting a court decision in a remand center.

Denis Protsenko: Moscow has built an effective system to fight COVID-19

History Fifth wave of coronavirus in Russia

Denis Protsenko, chief physician of Kommunarka Hospital No. 40, said that enough measures had been taken in Moscow to combat the spread of “omicron “, the capital's health care was running smoothly.

“Hospitals are always prepared for different scenarios, but the omicron strain — it's not a 'delta', it's “is milder and generally more like SARS. In most cases, and this is confirmed by statistics, treatment is possible at home,” he noted.

Protsenko believes that the medical care system in Moscow works like a well-oiled mechanism and there is no need to introduce additional restrictions. “Everything we need — it's just a bit of self-discipline, vaccinations and health care,” — he says.

The chief medical officer said that last week the incidence in the city was at the level of 24,000 new cases. 5-8% of patients go to the hospital, which is much less than before. In particular, at the peak of activity of the “delta” strain, one in five infected people ended up in the hospital.

“A characteristic of the new wave is the #39;increased load on the main link, that is, our polyclinics. And if in the “first waves” we redesigned hospitals, increased the number of beds, reacted quickly to changes in the epidemiological situation, but now the focus is on helping those who are treated at home, — he explained.

According to Denis Protsenko, polyclinics work today until the last patient. Already at the entrance, all visitors are led to different floors so as not to mix up different groups of patients. Outpatient clinics are recruiting additional staff, arranging audio consultations, extending and closing sick days online, etc.

“Whatever is being done in the outpatient department now saves the city”, — summarized the chief medical officer.

Recall that there are more than 70 express screening points for COVID-19 in the capital at the My Documents centers; and in popular public places (subway stations, shopping malls, etc.). Dozens of points where you can get vaccinated and revaccinated are also open.

Recently it became known that Moscow ranks first in Europe among the major cities most effectively implementing advanced methods to fight the pandemic.

What is the ShAK-12 “assault machine”?

The world's most powerful 12.7 mm ShAK-12 assault rifle was presented on video, the video was prepared by Rosoboronexport. This is the first demonstration of the capabilities of a weapon capable of hitting an enemy hidden behind a building wall or armor plate. AiF.ru discovered its characteristics.

SHAK-12. Photo: YouTube frame

Weapons for special forces

The ASh-12 assault rifle has long been classified, since it was created by order of the Special Purpose Center of the FSB of Russia. The terms of reference for this weapon appeared after the terrorist act in Beslan. Special forces, based on the experience of this operation, wanted to get a weapon capable of hitting an enemy protected by heavy armor classes or hiding behind an obstacle. In addition to high penetrating power, the new sample had to have strong stopping power — so that the ball does not fly away, but “throws” enemy or a small obstacle.

Currently it is one of the few weapons with similar characteristics. This is a large-caliber fully automatic weapon capable of firing powerful 12.7x55mm rounds both single and in bursts. The effective distance is considered to be 200-400m. The name ShAK-12 stands for “Automatic Assault Complex”.

Small Arms

The weapon is made according to the bullpup scheme (the magazine is located behind the fire control handle, and not in front, as in classic assault rifles). To lighten the weight, most of the body of the machine is made of impact-resistant polymer, the rest of the — in aluminium. Thanks to this, ASh-12 has a length of only 675 mm and a weight of 5.2 kg — for a weapon of this caliber, very modest figures. To reduce recoil when firing, the assault rifle comes standard with a dual-chamber muzzle brake compensator and rubber butt pad; -align: center;”>

The ASH-12 has four Picatinny rails. The longest steel — on the top you can put sights or a carrying handle. Two types of plastic box magazines can be used — for 10 and 20 rounds respectively, the second — a more assault version, suitable for a serious confrontation. In addition, a special box magazine for 12.7 × 55 mm cartridges was developed for this machine. The magazine can be loaded with both rifle and submachine gun cartridges, despite their different lengths. The cartridges are aligned in several rows in a checkerboard pattern.

Extinction and silence

The ShAK-12 complex includes four types of different options for choke nozzles, which differ in size and are designed for different conditions. The more compact ones act as a tactical flash hider or silencer and offer negligible sound and flash suppression. These devices are intended for use in the conduct of assault operations in confined spaces.

Larger muzzle devices already have the function of a full-fledged silent firing device, they are used in conjunction with subsonic cartridges. They are best used in open spaces when secret work is required, including at night. At the same time, shooting from the ASh-12 assault rifle, if necessary, can be carried out without a muzzle device, but, of course, in this case the roar will be amazing.

It is possible to install specially designed underbarrel grenade launchers of several options, including a rather exotic type of three-shot revolver.

Ammo of your choice

Several types of 12.7 × 55 mm ammunition have been developed for the ShAK-12, which make it possible to optimally solve various tasks in short-term close combat conditions. To date, three types of bullets are known. The first type has a steel core inside and is designed to hit targets protected by some kind of armor or hiding behind an obstacle. According to some reports, such a bullet is capable of piercing 16 mm thick steel sheet or 5th class body armor. The second type of ammunition has a heavy lead bullet with subsonic speed and is designed for silent firing using a silent firing device. The third type of ammunition — a cartridge with a lightweight aluminum bullet that has an expansive action and provides an increased stopping effect. It is these bullets that should hit soldiers under the influence of drugs or certain powerful mind-altering substances that increase the pain threshold.
