US scientists recorded prolonged solar flare

A prolonged eruption has occurred on the Sun, according to the Space Weather Forecast Center of the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The phenomenon was recorded yesterday around 20:00 Moscow time. Flash is assigned to class M2 & mdash; moderately strong. It was accompanied by coronal mass ejection. It is likely that it will not point towards Earth and will go through its orbit.

According to the head of the solar x-ray astronomy laboratory of the Institute of Physics named after PN Lebedev RAS Sergei Kuzin, the plasma clouds than the Sun projects at such times, in two or three days can cause a magnetic storm on Earth, writes RIA Novosti.

Earlier in November, a magnetic storm was recorded over the planet, reaching its peak power in G3 over five possible levels.

A powerful solar flare was also observed at the end of October.
