NASA launches probe on Jupiter's Trojan asteroids

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has sent a Lucy research probe into space, the NASA press service reported on Saturday.

The probe, which will study the Trojan asteroids Jupiter, was launched by the Atlas V launcher of the United Launch Alliance. The launch went well.

The probe is expected to reach the Jupiter asteroids in April 2025 and complete its work in March 2033. NASA hopes this comedic mission will help find answers to many questions about how the solar system was formed.

In November, NASA will test Earth's protection against potentially dangerous asteroids for the first time. The agency will launch a Falcon 9 rocket with a special probe towards one of the space bodies, which will have to collide with the object and change its orbit.

Earlier it was reported that NASA & nbsp; missed & nbsp; the asteroid 2021 SG, which was approaching Earth, comparable in size to the Statue of Liberty. The celestial body on September 16 approached Earth by 246 & nbsp; thousand. km, or about half the distance from the Moon. At the same time, astronomers didn't learn of the asteroid's approach until the next day.
