On September 2, Polish President Andrzej Duda established a state of emergency on the border with Belarus due to the situation of illegal migrants. It will operate in two border regions and will last 30 days. In the territory of the special regime, mass gatherings are prohibited, the right to carry weapons and the right to photograph certain objects are restricted.
According to the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs, since the beginning of August Polish border guards have recorded more than 3,000 attempts to enter the country illegally; at the same time, they were 120 for the whole of 2020. On Monday, August 30, the Polish Ministry of Defense announced the start of the construction of a barbed wire fence 2.5 meters high on the Polish-Belarusian border. ;
