Hurricane Ida hit the US state of Louisiana on August 29. Forecasters characterized it as a category four out of five possible hurricane & mdash; the wind speed reached 150 miles (240 kilometers) per hour. With such force, the hurricane raged for about six hours. Hurricane Ida caused power outages to over a million people. A strong wind uprooted trees, tore the roofs of houses, cut transmission lines. An employee of the US Geological Survey reported that Ida causes America's largest river, the Mississippi, to flow in the opposite direction. As a result of the disaster, at least one person died.
