What are the four new types of visas they want to introduce for foreigners?

In Russia, they want to reduce the number of visa types for foreigners and introduce four new ones. This was announced by the Head of the Migration Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Valentina Kazakova during a meeting of the expert council to the Commissioner for Human Rights. the man from the Russian Federation.

Today there are 30 visa options in Russia, but some of them want to cut. At the same time, diplomatic, service, transit visas, unified electronic visas, ordinary study visas and ordinary work visas will be preserved.

What new visas are we talking about? 

They want to introduce four new types of visas to the Russian Federation: 

  • investor visa;
  • special visa;
  • ordinary medical visa; 
  • an ordinary universal visa.

What will be the visa requirements?

Investor visa

To obtain an investor visa, various conditions are considered, including two main ones: 

  • invest at least 30 million rubles. in Russian companies and create at least five jobs for Russian citizens;
  • invest at least 30 million rubles. in real estate in Russia, which will provide tax residence.

Special visa

Ethnic Russian speakers applying for citizenship of the Russian Federation will be able to obtain a special visa. A visa will be issued to a foreign citizen for a maximum period of one year on the basis of a decision recognizing him as a native speaker of the Russian language. 

Visa regular medical

An ordinary medical visa for a period of up to one year will be issued to a foreign citizen entering the Russian Federation for treatment, as well as to a person accompanying him. To enter with such a visa, you will need to receive an invitation from the local Ministry of Interior upon request from the medical institution where the foreigner is going to be treated. 

Ordinary universal visa

An ordinary universal visa will be issued to foreigners “entering for business, humanitarian or tourist purposes.”

What will change when obtaining a work visa? 

An ordinary work visa will be issued for a maximum period of three months. You can extend such a visa by obtaining a multiple-entry visa, which should be issued for the duration of the concluded employment contract, but not more than three years for each extension. It is proposed to issue an ordinary work visa to family members of a foreign citizen working in Russia.
