A Tambov court arrested Vladimir Gromov, acting deputy head of the Tambov region, for two months, reports TASS.
The official is suspected of; having encouraged the embezzlement of more than 25 million rubles within the framework of the national demographic project.
Gromov was arrested in early January, he was charged with abuse of power and abuse of power. He faces up to seven years in prison.
According to investigators, two years ago a commercial company, which was patronized by the acting vice-governor, concluded 90 contracts with kindergartens for the supply of goods worth more than 25 million rubles.
