The Tu-142 aircraft will continue long-term flights to the Arctic and the Atlantic

Long-term flights to the Arctic and Atlantic on Russian Tu-142 anti-submarine planes will continue over the next 12 months, said the press service of the Northern Fleet.

Last year, the average duration of flights to the distant sea area was around 10 hours, and the distance traveled per flight averaged over seven thousand kilometers. The pilots conducted air patrols, conducted ice reconnaissance and monitored the situation in the Arctic.

In 2022, this practice will be one of the priorities for pilots of Tu-142. It should be noted that the aircraft operates in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.

Previously, it had been reported that evacuation units and repair of military equipment in the Arctic would soon be available to the Russian Army. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will have special vehicle evacuators and mobile repair shops, created on the basis of two-arm tractors.
