Russian President Vladimir Putin has established a new holiday in the armed forces & mdash; Pipeline Troops Day, it will be celebrated on January 14. The corresponding decree is published on the official Internet portal for legal information.

Pipeline troops & mdash; This is a kind of formations in the armed forces that provide troops in times of war and peace with fuels and lubricants (POL). They are also responsible for the deployment of the main field pipelines (PMT) and the supply of fuel through them to the warehouses of the associations and training of the armed forces.
The experimental laying of pipelines during military exercises in the USSR first took place in the Far East in 1937. Pipeline parts were used extensively in the USSR as part of the rear services of the Red Army during the Great War patriotic. Currently, they are part of Russia's special forces.
In addition, pipeline troops are involved in extinguishing forest and peat fires, eliminating peacetime accidents.
