Consequences of heavy rains in Kerch

An emergency regime was put in place in Kerch on June 17 due to heavy rains and flooding.

It rained all night in Kerch, nearly two monthly rainfall rates (82 millimeters) fell. Over 200 houses were flooded in Kerch due to heavy rains and overflow from the banks of the Melek-Chesm river, the hospital and town center were deprived of electricity and supply in water was partially insufficient. More than 100 transformer stations were urgently shut down in Crimea due to power line breaks and damage, flooding of electrical installations, the Crimean power industry shifted to a special operating mode.

To eliminate the consequences of the rainstorm and to help the inhabitants of the flooded houses of Kerch, employees of EMERCOM were sent, the riot police and the national guard.
