Heroes – all is said

From the metro station “Dostoyevskaya” groups of young people with red carnations go to the monument. We don't build, that's quite obvious. We just came because we wanted to. “Yesterday, our student council president said that on Defender of the Fatherland Day, you can lay flowers on this monument, – said a third-year student from the State University of Technology and management of Moscow.RazumovskyAnastasia Buchatskaya. – We agreed to meet here, so we are waiting for the action to start. I study computer science and computer engineering, my friends – of “food” Faculty. But we know Suvorov well – we were told in detail about the exploits performed in the lessons on the history of Russia. His life is impressive, not a single battle lost!

&ldash;Suvorov– he's someone you can try to be like. What if he lived over two hundred years ago? Heroes – that says it all, – says the head of the «City of Heroes Moscow» Dmitri Kurbanov. The project brings together people aged 14 to 35 who address the theme of “everyday heroism”. They get to know people who suddenly faced a difficult situation and achieved a feat, record interviews with them, and then publish them on the Internet. “A hero can be a 16 year old boy – he helped a subway passenger who accidentally fell on the tracks. Or a bone marrow donor who one day decided to join the National Donor Registry, – gives examples Dmitry. – You communicate with them and wonder: after all, in some cases there was no time for reflection, and the person, without hesitation, simply saved the stranger.

Commemorative plaque on each house

Battle of Kozludzhi and Rymnik, Battle of Kinburn, Italian Campaign – on the Suvorov battlefields you can enthusiastically engage in geography and history. And if, at the mention of the name of the Generalissimo, these key battles will immediately come to mind only by connoisseurs, then the capture of Ishmael and the crossing of the Alps are known to everyone, as well as the famous “ It's hard” by Suvorov to learn – easy to fight.

In a recent speech to Russian citizens, Vladimir Putindrew attention to the significance of this historical figure. “Let me remind you that in the 18th century soldiersof Alexander Suvorov fought for this city, – the president said about Ochakov. – Thanks to their courage, it became part of Russia. Then, in the 18th century, the lands of the Black Sea region, annexed to Russia as a result of wars with the Ottoman Empire, were called Novorossiya. Now they are trying to forget about these historical milestones, as well as the names of the state military figures of the Russian Empire, without whose work modern Ukraine does not exist. #39;would not have many large cities and even the very exit to the Black Sea. Recently, a monument to Alexander Suvorov was demolished in Poltava. What can I say?”

It is worth noting that the places of Suvorov's campaigns are treated with respect even abroad. For example, the correspondent of “AiF” I wrote about the Swiss local historian Walter Geler, who opened a private museum in the town of Lintale in the canton of Glarus and runs free tours himself (the museum has now moved to the canton of Uri). Mr. Geler amazes Russians who go there by the attitude of foreigners towards the Russian military leader. A memorial plaque hangs on every house where Suvorov spent at least one day. Geler explored the area with a mine detector for 40 years and collected a rich collection of artifacts: remnants of weapons, cannonballs, bullets, equipment. He was accused of “black digging” and demanded to hand over the finds, but won in court.

Near Suzdal, in the village of Kistysh, the former family estate of Suvorov AV, an initiative group of veterans of the Armed Forces and the Federal Security Service of Russia creates an architectural complex and history of the great Russian commander through public donations. Meanwhile, in Russia, several years ago, enthusiasts from different cities, including residents of Moscow, set out to restore the Temple of Basil the Great erected by Suvorov in the village of Kistish in the Suzdal district of the Vladimir region, from archival documents. In the family domain, offered by Peter Ito Suvorov's grandfather, the military leader came only to visit. His grandfather and father lived there permanently. After the death of his father, in memory of him, Alexander Vasilyevich erected the temple of Basil the Great. In 1928, the church is closed, the bell tower explodes. Even 10 years ago, the temple was threatened with complete destruction. Rescue work carried out with donations revived it.

Loud birthdays and a quiet life

Today's flower laying ceremony at the Suvorov monument in Moscow brought together a variety of children. According to Ekaterina Dragunova, chairwoman of the committee for public relations and youth policy of the city of Moscow, these are volunteers, a student relief corps, representatives of cultural projects and 39;NGO. “Of course, events about heroic personalities are held in the city throughout the year, we celebrate all birthdays, – she says. – In Moscow there is even a Children's Club of hero, it is led by the marshal's daughterIvan Konev. Children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren come together, who share unknown facts to a wide range of facts about what their loved ones were on the battlefield and what – in a home environment. When the epidemiological situation allows, meetings will resume, which the committee will announce on its website. On February 23, we also remember all those who defended our homeland – they are heroes of the Great Patriotic War, internationalist warriors and, of course, commanders of past eras – as Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov.
