Acting Head of Khabarovsk Territory Mikhail Degtyarev reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that rising water levels in Amur are causing concern and anxiety, reports RIA Novosti.
Meeting of the Russian leader with the interim head of the region was held by videoconference.
According to Degtyarev, water discharges at the Bureyskaya and Zeiskaya hydropower plants can also complicate the situation.
He noted that the forecast is unfavorable, but at the moment the region is ready and has deployed 1.5 thousand units of equipment and a group of approximately five thousand people.
“ We will certainly protect people and property. But, in any case, it is an alarming situation for us, ”stressed the acting governor.
Previously, it was reported that due to heavy rains in Kerch, more than 200 private buildings and apartments were flooded. The hospital and the city center were deprived of electricity.
