Extinguishing forest fires in Yakutia

In Yakutia, plagued by forest fires, 1.3 million hectares of forest have already burned down. On the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), there are now 251 natural fires over a total area of more than 1.5 million hectares, of which 1.3 hectares & mdash; forest area, the rest & mdash; non-forestry. Forest fires in Yakutia were recorded in 17 regions, the fire also spread to two specially protected natural areas & mdash; The pillars of Lena and the Olekminsky reserve.

About 2.3 thousand people are fighting fires in the region & mdash; firefighters, military, employees of the Department of Emergency Situations and volunteers. Department of Defense aviation is also involved in the extinction & mdash; Il-76 planes and Mi-8 helicopters. Now in the region there is an emergency situation, since July 1, the stay of citizens in the forests, certain types of work are limited.
